SSP Investigations Salman Zafar Holds Press Conference at Police Lines Headquarters
88 suspects involved in serious crimes and vehicle and motorcycle theft arrested. Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) recovers stolen property worth over Rs. 72.9 million, while Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) recovers 56 stolen vehicles and motorcycles worth over Rs. 88.2 million and solves 56 cases.
According to details, operations against criminal elements are underway on the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Captain (R) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry.
In this regard, SSP Investigations Salman Zafar, accompanied by DSP CIA Salman Shah and In-charge AVLU Inspector Mian Noorullah, addressed a press conference at Police Lines Headquarters. He stated that the Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) of Islamabad Police had arrested 61 suspects, including 30 members of eight gangs involved in robbery, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, housebreaking and theft.
The police recovered stolen property worth Rs. 72.915 million in connection with 28 cases. The recovered items included mobile phones, laptops, cars, motorcycles, gold, cash and other valuables.
In cases of kidnapping for ransom, nine members of two gangs were arrested, and the abducted persons were safely recovered. The police also recovered a Honda Civic, 18 mobile phones, seven laptops, iPads, passports and other valuables worth Rs. 10.5 million from the suspects.
In cases of robbery and armed robbery, 16 members of four gangs were arrested. The recovered stolen property included 23 mobile phones, five motorcycles, 20 cars, cash, watches and other valuables, collectively worth Rs. 16.065 million.
Furthermore, 14 suspects were arrested in eight cases involving ordinary theft and housebreaking. The police recovered 20 tolas of gold, cash, watches, laptops and other stolen items worth Rs. 46.24 million.
SSP Investigations Salman Zafar further stated that the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) had arrested 27 suspects belonging to 11 gangs involved in vehicle and motorcycle theft during the current year. The police recovered 35 cars and 21 motorcycles, with a combined value of Rs. 88.245 million, and solved 56 cases of vehicle and motorcycle theft.
The arrested gangs used master keys and other methods to steal vehicles and transport them to various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. To apprehend the suspects, Islamabad Police employed modern scientific and technical resources, including Safe City surveillance cameras, and deployed informants.
SSP Investigations Salman Zafar, accompanied by DSP CIA Salman Shah and In-charge AVLU Inspector Mian Noorullah, handed over the keys of recovered vehicles and motorcycles, along with other recovered property, to their rightful owners.
On the occasion, SSP Investigations Salman Zafar stated that Islamabad Police remained committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens and taking effective action against criminal elements.
He added that recovering stolen cars and motorcycles and returning them to their rightful owners remained among the department's top priorities. All available resources were being utilized to provide relief to citizens.
